REFLECTION


In civics we have been making rules for our own imaginary country. In class today we talked about the guaranteed rights each citizen should have in our country. We worked together quite easily because we had a lot of the same ideas for the rules. Such as education, food and shelter, healthcare, the right to vote and freedom/freedom of speech.

I don't think anybody really dominated the conversation because we all had the same ideas so there wasn't really much arguing. I think the three most important ideas that we had where food and shelter, freedom of speech, and healthcare. These are all important because you need food and shelter to survive and without healthcare you won't live that long. And if you take away somebody's freedom of speech you sort of take away their humanity.

I think life would be absolutely terrible for these rules. Think about it if we didn't have these rules people would be allowed to kill each other, steal, discriminate and etc. think about how much people react when someone gets killed think about how much worse it would be if that happened every day right here in Canada. Think about how sad that would be. It's a sad thing to think about but it's pretty serious this happens around the world all the time and it is really underestimated in Canada!!!! We haven't really good.

After we made up our own rules we looked at the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” so there was a couple things I would want to add to our imaginary country's rules such as- being allowed to marry who you want and have a family, not being allowed to be tortured or have some to torture you, and no child labor.

The planet

The earth is very important to us because it is our home we need to try two trie to fix our home before it's too late always try to recycle and conserve energy because after all we only to home.

Why was the name swine flu changed one of the theories why the name was changed is because it's not pork related but sum people think if they eat pork products they may die. By doing so

their crippling the pork industry and this is why I think they changed the name from swine flu to h1 n1 flu.

In this post I'm going to talk about how global warming affects the Arctic. A lot of people think so what they get so warmer and some ice goes away but it's actually a lot more serious than that. If the ozone layer continues to decrease water levels will rise cities will be wiped out, wildlife will die, and will be no such thing as the Arctic for generations to come. If the world was a kitchen, then the Arctic would be the freezer and every kitchen need to freezer.

Charles Wayo

The story of Charles Wayo is about how a boy walked all the way across Africa into Europe to find his penpal who is a member of the US Army and he was stationed in Turkey. One thing about the story that bothered me is how impoverished he was that he would want to walk all that way across Africa into Europe to find his penpal so he get a better life. I know that there are a lot of problems in Africa, Asia and the rest of the world when it comes to poverty but it's really shocking that a 13 year old boy would do that. I know that there are a lot of organizations trying to help out over there by dropping off food, medical supplies and other things but what I think they should do is try to get some of these people doing jobs instead of sending them food send them material so they can grow their own food.

I know that you're probably thinking while you can't just grow food out of nowhere that it has to be the right type of land. But if we just keep on giving them food then that's all they will depend on and that's not good. But anyways that's just my opinion...

being on time

Being on time is important because if you're always late for things you could lose your job, get in trouble at school, miss out on things that you'd like to see or do, how people get angry at you, and be excluded. Because people know that you'll be late and being late also affect your grades and how people look at you as a person. So remember tried always be on time!!!

How to study for an exam

Studying for an exam is important because when you study it helps you remember stuff that will be on the exam. There are different methods for studying in exam, and hear are some of them.

cramming: cramming is when you study right before a test for 5 or 10 minutes studying the thing you need most.

Study buddy: a study buddy is someone you study with usually days before the test.

Reviewing: reviewing is when you sit down and look over the notes that you've taken over the last term.

Doing extra work sheets: doing extra work sheets is when you do extra work
to help you remember the topics that you need to.

So with these ways and other ways you can be sure you'll be ready for an exam!!!

In this post I will be talking about global culture and four main words that has to do it such as racism, religion, culture, and cultural diffusion.

What is a culture?
A culture is a way of life shared by a group of people and composed of a number of things, such as the way people obtain their food, the way they bring up there their children, and the values they believe in of course cultures will be different throughout the world as we are not all the same and we do not have all the same beliefs. This poster will show you some global cultures, maybe even your own.

Culture is a way of life shared by a group of people. It shows their beliefs and values and ultimately explains their life. For example we are Canadian so we have a different culture then say, people in China.

Religion people say there are two things you should never talk about in a conversation religion and politics. There's good reason for that because everybody is entitled to their own view on life. One of the major things that makes so many different cultures is religion if there was only one religion then there would only be one because everybody believed in the same thing so there would be no great cathedrals and England, no Buddhist temples, no monasteries there would only be one type so in a way there would be no culture.

Cultural diffusion cultural diffusion is when one culture such has the Chinese who are more Buddhist than we are. start moving into Canada and they take their beliefs, values
and the rest of their culture with them to Canada and therefore the number of Buddhists in Canada increases over time which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Because Canada is trying to be it as diverse as possible. In other words it's when one culture spreads out.

Racism in my opinion racism is the worst thing about having different cultures racism is one people are picked out and make fun of because they are different. We have started many different wars such as World War I ,World War II, the civil war in the US and many more. It's very sad that a person would be picked on because how their skin looks.

The internet is making me soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo mad today. It will not let me open a site that I wanted to use as it said it was doing weekly updates. I don't know why these sites do their updates on the weekend in the middle of the day.This does not make sense to me.

Easter weekend

I just want to start things off by saying if you don't believe in celebrating Easter that's fine with me. And if you do that's fine with me but if someone you know doesn't celebrate Easter or does celebrate Easter and you're in the opposite don't make fun of him for it. because everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Because no one ever wants to be told they're wrong when it comes to religion. But anyways I spend my Easter going to my grandma and grandpa's and my Nana and grandpa's houses and was lots of fun we enjoyed good food and I got to see some of my family I have not seen a long time. But on the downside of my Easter weekend. I went to a funeral my cousins husband had just died she was very upset. Which was sad but on a positive note I got to see my distant family ,and my cousins slept over at my grandparents house for a couple days so it's fun playing Xbox 360 and PS2 with them. So that's my Easter weekend.

The Smurfs

One of my greatest questions about the Smurfs is why is there only one girl "Smurfette" like how does that work?....... what kind of society only has one girl?????????? I don't get it?????????? wouldn't they be considered an endangered species......

-no home I would be devastated without a home because pretty well everything I own would be in the House and that prewar Huxley my whole life behind.

-losing family members
if I lost one of my family members I don't know what I would do my mind would be saying just to give out but my body would not let me.

-I don't know what it would be like in a flood because I've never seen a dead person outside of funeral home or cemetery I don't know if I could function properly…

Bullying is not funny

Bullying is not funny because it hurts people's feeling. It also makes people feel like their life means nothing so their grades may drop, they may avoid their family and friends and ultimately bullying makes their life miserable. Most people think bullying is not a big deal but it is.

What if you bullied someone and their grades drop. When they finish high school they may try to get a good job because they failed classes.

Or the person you're bullying could take it really hard and commit suicide. How would that make you feel if someone killed themselves because of you. Even if it didn't affect you that much. There is a new law that says if someone is being bullyed to the point where they kill themselves you can be held responsible for their death and may even go to jail for murder........................ I'm not trying to freak you out by this post just remember bullying someone could wreck their life or maybe even yours.

pneumatic system & hydraulic systems !!!

Today we received a project in science class about pneumatic system & hydraulic systems I will be working with nick. We are making a game show on PowerPoint and will be very cool as we will have the pictures of our classmates.

My March break

This march break I went to my grandparents house for a couple of days it was fun. Why I was there I went to the gym I also had my friend over we rented a movie and played video games. The next day I went fishing with him, but we had no luck.

A couple days later my friend called me up and asked me to come snowboarding with him so I did it was slushy but lots of fun the next day I put together one of my shelves I had gotten on sale its very cool it has stainless steel doors with stainless steel handles.

paranoid park

The book I'm reading is paranoid Park it is very good book. It's about the skiboarding kid who goes to paranoid Park which is a skate park. He meets this guy and they decide they're going to hop a train but then they get caught by security guard and the security guard was more violent than he needed to be. So the one kid pushes him and security guard fell in front of the train and now hes trying to get on with his life. But the security is all over the news and there's a detective trying to solve the case and that's where I've made it with my book. I would recommend this book to anyone especially teens because it's a very good book so enjoy this video about the movie.

Masks we will be doing in class

We have created a plaster mask and now we're going to paint it. Our masks are symbolize our lives with colors designs and patterns one color that I've chosen is blue. I've chosen blue because it is my favorite color and on my family coat of arms there's a lot of blue so it symbolizes my family. I have also chosen orange and white as I think they symbolize my two favorite seasons summer and winter. If I was going to put hair on my mask I would choose some type of wirer as the symbolizes I like to make inventions.

this is a funny oxymoron that someone said to me its not healthy to be sick all the time.=)

Tubing last night

Last night we went tubing and it was lots of fun. I went down with different people it was lots of fun but I would have to say the most fun was when we went with a group of four people and we went down together. Usually you stop at the bottom because of the mats to slow you down,but that time we didn't. We just kept on going and went into the Bush. We went off a pile of snow that was 3 feet high and nearly crashed into a tree it was the most fun. The scariest time would have to be when we almost went off the edge in some parts it was a good 7 foot drop in some parts.

Go carting in Tennessee

Go carting in Tennessee was lots of fun, there were lots and lots of go kart tracks in pigeon forage. There were really cool go kart tracks that went spiraling up into the air. Or there were other go kart tracks that were more simple such as a circle or rectangle ect.....

there was around 10 go kart tracks in the town alone and I rode most of them so here's some pictures of some go kart tracks there.

My weekend

This weekend was a really fun weekend, on Friday a got a new game and I played it the rest of the day. On Saturday I had my friend Andrew over we played videogames, and when got my friend Phil. Then we went out on the ice at the lake there was frozen waves right on the lake. Then we went back to my house and watch some T.V. It was lots of fun, and then my friend Louie called me up. I went over to his house for a while then he came to my house. We bought junk food and stayed up until 4 a.m. the next day we hangout playing video games and he went home. Then we went to my grandmother's house for a birthday dinner for my mom. I brought singing star the videogame and it was fun watching my family sing their heart out in front of everyone it was really funny. And that's my weekend!!!

The last two days going to Toronto and the bookstore

In this post I will be talking about the last two days. Yesterday I had to get up at 530 in the morning when I usually get up at 730 then we headed to a half-hour or so drive. To Toronto to see the Toronto Maple leafs and New York Rangers practice. We also seen the Toronto marlie's play a scrimmage.

today we went to a bookstore where we had $40 to get his many books as we wanted or person in our class which was cool we receive the money from a grant which was nice.

Pigeon forage and dolly wood

In this post I will be talking about my best vacation. My best vacation was when I went to Tennessee to visit my cousins. We went to a place called dolly wood. Dolly wood is a cool north style themepark with rides for all ages and an amazing water park.

Pigeon forage is a tourist town in Tennessee there's so many cool things that you can do there and there are lots of stuff in the surrounding area to. It is full of arcades, go kart tracks, golf courses, restaurants, and museums and more. So if you're looking for a fun adventure pigeon forage in the Smoky Mountain area would be a great idea.

Religion

As an individual I personally believe in God. You may or may not believe the same as I do, but I am just trying to remind you to be cautious about what you say to people regarding religion.
As some people are touchy, for example: if someone said Gods not real and you believe in God you would be mad. So keep most of your personal thoughts to yourself,we already have enough war around in the world and we don't need anymore in our communities.

This is the summary of my book lockdown. I have been reading lockdown for the last couple of wheat weeks. So read this summary and you may like it as well.

Lockdown” by DianeTullson. In the book the kids of the grade 10 science class were all gathered around Josh is hamster cage. Josh’s hamster had just had babies and everyone was excited to see them. But they were in the cage so nobody could see them. So they started to shake the cage and bang against the glass. When a mother hamster feels threatened she sometimes will kill the letter. This made Josh very upset, he was so upset he had to leave school, and all the other kids kind of thought it was funny. Josh was not a very popular kid at school so when his hamster did that it made him finally snap. The next day he brought a gun to school but a lot of kids made it into classrooms ,but Adam Zoe and two of their friends got locked out.
friends are locked out of the classrooms and they are stuck in the school with the murderous gunmen!!!!

Animal testing yes or no?

I personally believe animal testing is wrong. But lets face it,I would choose my child over a lab rat anyday. But I don't believe it is necessary to use animals to test shampoo,bodywash,etc. But we do need animal testing for healthcare purposes. Therefore, the animals still used should be treated humanely. I think that labs should have cameras put in to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals tested. Also, all labs should have vets on site at all testings. If labs do not follow these standards, they should lose the right to test animals.

Yesterday we went skiing/snowboarding for the second time with our school. It was lots of fun but to go on the big hills you had to get a dot, and to get a dot you had to be able to go down the hill without falling and do three turns. And yesterday I got off the bunny hill I was pretty proud of that. The ski lift is really cool because it takes you like 25 feet in the air. And in two weeks were going to Chicopee so it should be lots of fun.

So if you have Kurzweil here's how you can extract something go under file then find Word says extract highlighted text if you want to highlight it all click OK.That will take the text to a new file and therefore saving you time in set of copying and pasting.

Happy holidays I hope everybody had a happy holiday, whatever holiday you celebrate. I think I'll talk about my holiday this holiday season I celebrated with five Christmas parties. But only three of them we exchange gifts at the other two we have food and get a chance to catch up with our family as some of them we don't get to see for a long time.

My three main Christmases my first Christmas I was at my house it was just with my family we had breakfast and exchange are gifts to each other. I was so happy when I opened up one of my presents it was an Xbox 360 YA! I also got to cool T-shirts, a new winter jacket and a paintball gun YA!

My next Christmas I went to my grandparents house we had Christmas lunch/dinner and opend presents. I got this cool multitool it's got a hammer, a knife, a saw, a screwdriver, and a pair of pliers and its all-in-one YA! I also got a movie pass some tools and a remote control car YA!

My last Christmas I went to my other grandparents house I played video games with my cousins had a Christmas dinner later we all presents I got about five gift cards a cool glow-in-the-dark watch and some new clothes YA! happy holidays!bye

Skating

At my school skating is very popular but I did not know how to skate. So this is my crash test skating story!

In the beginning my old school I could not skate at all. I would hold onto the walls nonstop even then I would still fall about 10 times for each lap. Eventually I just decided to watch, but then I went to my new school and they strongly suggested that I skated so I tried it. I used what I call the grainy mobile I have couple wipeouts on that but I kept on trying and falling, but not as much! And eventually I got it ya! So now I can skat with just a hockey stick to keep me balanced.

I am so happy this holiday season I will be seeing my cousins I have not seen for the year. Also it will be fun giving and receiving presents. No matter what holiday you celebrate practically every culture has some type of holiday this season. It is very cool seeing all the lights on homes, businesses and trees. There is also so many traditions like decorating a tree or lighting candles and etc...
whatever holiday you celebrate have fun! And eat lots of food. Happy holidays and a happy new year.

A good loser
In the last post, I was talking about what makes a good winner and in that I started talking about what makes a good loser. As I'm writing this, I have just finished two volleyball games. The one we lost and the other one we won. So let's talk about the one we lost. What makes a good loser is someone who doesn't get mad at there own teammates and keeps their head during the game. I know it sucks to lose but it doesn't make your teammates feel any better when you yell at them. Now I'm sure everybody has been yelled at before when they're playing sports. For example "why didn't you get that pass", or" you suck at goalie" and nobody, no matter how they handle it , will not like it. So, when you're playing sports, be a good loser or else you may never be a good winner.

What makes a good winner.

A Good winner is someone who is encouraging to people on their own team and to people on the other team. And they're also someone who keeps control when they win. Let's face it----- everybody likes to win and at some point in your life you know that you will get carried away when you win. But you know how it makes the other team feel bad. I'm not saying you shouldn't be happy but you should try to keep it in a way that it doesn't make the other team feel too bad. Everybody's been in a situation where you lose and it sucks but it makes it even worse whenever the other team is acting like fools. So, be a good sport, and when you win, be a good winner.

my Sunday

Sunday went to church then a went to my grandparents house. I watch some TV and talk to them I went and had lunch at Timmy's. And came back and play uno after that I watched TV that I went back to church for special Christmas thing. After that I came back and started watching castaway. But for some reason in the cable went down so I went outside and started to build a snowman then I decided why don't I tried to make it the highest one I've ever built so I made an 8 foot tall snowmen. Then it started to rain but not hard so my snowmen stayed and he became solid ice.

The start of the winter
Last night it started snowing for the first time when I was home, and it was nice wet packing snow. So I built a big tower of snow that was about 7 1/2 feet tall. My grandmother called it a snow totem pole I. Guess it kind of looked like one actually all the balls of snow piled on top of each other. It also kind of looked like the leaning Tower of Pisa because it was leaning over quite a bit. Then before we left it started to rain lightly so next time I see it it'll probably be as hard as ice.

Today
Today is the day we start volleyball it should be fun. And football ended last week my team finished third. We lost to the last-place team in the semi finals. Which just goes to show that it's not over until it's over.

What happened this weekend I had a sleepover at my friend Andrew's house we played video games and watch the onion movie. All weekend I was looking for the name of a band I must have watched. Much for 3-4 hours then finally I found the name and by the way the band was called rise against.$heldon

This is the low rope. It looks like the boy is about to fall but he didn't, the rope make sure he can move back and forth like a piece of limp spaghetti it's really funny to watch.

The election

To days ago I did not get the chance to talk about the election so I guess I'll talk about it today. I bet most of you know that Brock Obama won the election. Did you know that he was the very first African-American president of the United States he is also the youngest president ever! I think he will do a good job. Even though I am not old enough to vote or be American citizen. But I live in Canada so it was still a fact me as Canada is very close to the US.

Hello I didn't really know what to talk about today so I'll just talk about what happened today today we go in our student cards, we had lunch, had gym, and school. I had more homework today than some days but I'm still getting it done. I had to wait 20 minutes or half an hour for the computer it kind of sucks sharing computers with three other people. But I'm still getting my computer homework done at least well I better get going on my homework goodnight.

This is a myth we are writing in class so I hope you like it just to let you know this is not a real myth I just made it up!!!!!

AmaryL, the creator, lived on the moon. He was very lonely. He noticed there was a very big empty space in the universe that he created. So he decided to create a new planet.

When he went down to the planet it was one big desert. He created man and animals to keep him company on this new planet, but they soon died.

AmaryL pondered why his creations died? He realized that they needed water. So he created a long and narrow river. He tried to make man and animals again.

This time his people prospered. They had water to drink and because of the water food grew so they had food to eat to.

All was well for a little while anyways there was little villages springing up everywhere along the river. But the river land was very desirable and soon villagers would fight each other for the land, it finally got too bad so.

AmaryL was very angry at his people so he put his feet on one side of the river. And his hands on the other and pushed creating the Oceans therefore keeping the different groups of people separated for hundreds of years. Parts of land broke off creating the planets Islands.
And this planet was called the earth.

Today was a pretty good day we had swimming and we are having gone dinner tonight. For dorm dinner tonight we are having bacon cheeseburgers with a Caesar salad and angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream. Today when we played against the blue team in football we won but the blue team was actually really hard to beat and they almost had a touchdown.

happy Halloween I hope you had a good weekend. I did I went trick-or-treating with my friend Andrew. Got lots of candy that night. Then the next day I seen the movie passion Dale I personally did not like it. I'm Canadian and that movie did make me proud but. Still on the commercial it was a war movie and it was really more of romance and me as a 13-year-old boy not really like a romance only about 10 minutes of the movie was at the war I personally would like to see more fighting.

It should be lots of fun it is makes this week go by faster than it has already for example yesterday we carved a classic pumpkin and today we got to work in partners and carve one of our own tonight we have our dance. tomorrow we are having a movie party and then it'll be Friday I and I get to go home and carve a pumpkin and go trick or treating.

today we had lots of snow it snowed all night. thare was like 15 cm on the grond and we carved a pumkin in the snow. that was the frist time that had happend to me.

Last week me and my friend Nick had the idea of making a Web show .We know a couple people that have cameras so I hope we find out how to put it on and that we can.$heldon

In history class we are learning about the great migration. Which is cool because I like history. But it's pretty sad though that if there was 500 people on a boat coming from Ireland to Canada about 100 of them would die .One of my ancestors way back wen is from Ireland so I guess he or she must of made it luckily.

whats happening in the student council
Dance!!! dance!!!dance!!! the student council is having the first dance. Its a Halloween dance; the 30th of October.

I thought I would tell all about what I do in my day so I will be talking about ;Things like sports ,Things that make me mad ,And songs I like.


Today in sports, The red team won against the gold team in foot ball. Oh, and just to let you know, I am on the red team. In other news the green team and the blue team tied. I must say though all teams put forth a good effort. Also for gym we're starting lacrosse.

Now it's time for the 10 second harp: my 10 second harp for today is my dragon was a real pain today when I was writing this but I'm glad that I have very smart people here to help me.


My song for today is animal I have become ,By three days Grace in my opinion it is a very good song.

Hi my name is Sheldon and this is my first blog I guess all started off by saying what I did last night .Me and my friend Nick got lost in the corn maze you had to find 10 numbers . But we must have spent half an hour looking for number nine. When we found it after half an hour nick hauled the sign. We went with our whole school and it was fun!!!! . We were split into groups of 4 or 5 it was Nick James Crystal and Jake and i. We lost james and Crystal. In Jake would get lost for like five minutes and then just pop out of nowhere, and it was kind of creepy , especially being in a corn maze. . .
